Celebrity Messages Privacy Policy
The purpose of the Celebrity Messages Privacy Policy is to inform you what kinds of information we may gather about you, how we may use that information, whether we disclose it to anyone, and the choices you have regarding our use of the information.
1. Personal data, or personal information as we sometimes call it, means data which is capable of identifying a living person. You provide us with personal data, such as your name, address, email address, mobile phone number and credit card details. You may also provide personal data to us at other times, such as when participating in a competition or other promotion.
2. Celebrity Messages (“we” or “us”) provide the Celebrity Messages service, and this website. Your personal data will be collected, processed, stored and used by us, and passed to and processed by our subsidiary and/or affiliated companies (together “Celebrity Messages Group and Big Red Carpet Celebrity Messaging Limited Companies”) and other data processors acting under our control to provide and promote Celebrity Messages, to process payments you make to us, to provide customer support, and for other purposes referred to in this Privacy Policy and the Celebrity Messages Agreement which governs your use of Celebrity Messages. It is possible that some of the computer systems and companies that process your data on our behalf may be based in countries outside the European Union (“EU”). Thus, your personal data may be transferred to, processed and held both inside and outside the EU.
3. In the course of using Celebrity Messages, users make their personal data – such as an email address mobile phone number – available to others. It is Users’ responsibility to ensure that they wish to disseminate information about themselves (including personal data) in their use of the Celebrity Messages Service.
4. Cookies are small files which, depending on your browser settings, may be automatically stored on your computer's hard drive when your Web browser accesses a specific Web page. The cookies on the Celebrity Messages site are set by us, or (where an advertiser deploys a cookie) by the advertiser. We use “session” cookies, which stay on your computer only for the duration of your visit to the Celebrity Messages site. You will not be able to register for Celebrity Messages, nor will you be able to use certain aspects of the Celebrity Messages service, if your browser is set to reject cookies.
5. We may use cookies to personalise and enhance your experience of Celebrity Messages, including to:
• Authenticate your access to your personal information for added security
• Provide you with information about goods and services which may be of interest to you (unless you have opted not to permit this)
• Keep track of what services you purchase on Celebrity Messages
• improve our service offerings, our operations, and our customer service
• notify you of a potential security problem.
• We and our advertisers may use cookies to determine on an anonymous basis which advertisements customers have seen and how customers responded to them. For example, these cookies may be used to help ensure customers don't see the same advertisement too many times, to show the next advertisement in a series, or to tell whether an anonymous customer responded to a particular advertisement. These cookies are not used to collect personal information unless you give us permission to do so.
• The Web sites you visit, including those of our Merchants and advertisers, have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of Web sites before providing them with any of your personal information.
• If you are a user of Versions 5.0, 5.5 ,6.0 or 7.0 of the popular Internet Explorer browser and want to disable cookies, follow the steps below. Other browsers have different methods of doing this. Please note that disabling cookies may prevent you from viewing some Web sites, and availing of some of our services.
In Internet Explorer 5.0 and Internet Explorer 5.5:
1. Click on Start, Settings and Control Panel.
2. Double-click on Internet Options.
2. Click the Security tab.
3. Click Custom Level, scroll down to 'Cookies' and select Disable.
4. Click OK and then OK again.
To enable cookies instead, follow the above steps, but click Enable in Step 3.
Internet Explorer 6.0:
1. Click on Start, Settings and Control Panel. (Windows XP users, click Start and Control Panel.)
2. Double-click on Internet Options. (Windows XP users may need to click Switch to Classic View in
order for this option to be visible.)
3. Click the Privacy tab.
4. Click Advanced.
5. If the 'Override automatic cookie handling' is enabled, ensure that First-party Cookies and Third-
party Cookies are set to 'Block'.
6. Click OK.
7. Click OK on the Internet Properties form.
To enable cookies instead, follow the above steps, but ensure the First-party Cookies and Third-party Cookies are set to 'Accept'.
6. As an account-holder, we encourage you to tell us how you wish us to use your personal data for marketing of services and products to you.
Email and mobile communications. As part of the process of registering for Celebrity Messages, we give you the opportunity to opt-out of receiving email and mobile communications from us in relation to similar services and products which we think may be of interest to you; each such communication will give you the opportunity of opting-out of receiving future similar communications. Also, if we offer you the opportunity to hear from us, and third parties, by email and mobile communications about other services and products, you will need to have opted to receive this contact from us during registration for the Celebrity Messages Service at www.celebritymessages.com
Post and fax. We will not send marketing materials to you by post or fax, nor provide your address or fax number to others for this purpose.
7. We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to guard against unauthorised or unlawful processing of your personal data and against accidental loss or destruction of, or damage to, your personal data. While no computer system is completely secure, we believe the measures implemented by our site reduce the likelihood of security problems to a level appropriate to the type of data involved. We have security measures in place to protect our customer database and access to this database is restricted internally. However, it remains each User's responsibility:
• to protect against unauthorised access to your Account;
• to ensure no-one else uses Celebrity Messages while the User’s machine is "logged on" to the Celebrity Messages service;
• to log off or exit from Celebrity Messages when not using it; and
• to keep his/her password secret.
8. We will retain your personal data only as long as is necessary for the purposes to which you consent under the Celebrity Messages Agreement and this Privacy Policy, or as is required by applicable law, and then we will delete it.
9. Your personal data may be disclosed if we or an entity processing your data on our behalf are compelled to do so by law, or receive a valid, legally compliant request by a law enforcement or governmental authority.
10. To inspect, change or correct your identity and contact information, you may use www.celebritymessages.com and log into your account details in ‘My Account’ section.
